This component of V phase of SCAD Programme aims at establishing a sustained capacity to analyse drug-related data based on European Monitoring Centre on Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) guidelines
SCAD covers the areas of drug information and epidemiology through local and international experts in each of the three South Caucasus countries who support a number of activities in this component including:
• In-depth assessments of the drug situation and the drug epidemiological capacities in each of the three South Caucasus countries including short-term technical expertise in the field of epidemiology studies and long-term support to capacity building of epidemiology and the reinforcement of national and regional drug information.
• Epidemiological studies of drug prevalence and drug use for the purpose of evidence-based policy-making vis-à-vis national authorities.
• Strengthening of networks between EU Member State institutions and South Caucasus beneficiary institutions through the European Information Network on Drugs and Drug Addiction (Reitox).
• The provision of small equipment and refurbishment of buildings for the reinforcement of the National Focal Points or for relevant ministries and laboratories.
• Training and re-training of national focal points and information resource persons and ongoing support for the analysis of drug data and the elaboration of the National Drug Reports, including analysis of drug data, as well as a Regional Drug Report.
• A regional technical seminar for senior epidemiologists from the three countries of the South Caucasus.
• A regional conference exploring drug use in the South Caucasus.
• A study tour to the European Union for senior epidemiologists from each of the three countries that focuses on drug policy harmonisation.
